Down, Down Do Your Dance – Top 5 Modern Line Dances

Let’s face it, we have all done the Macarena at some point in our lives, right? Although this song still gets requests, you will be happy to know that there are new fun group line dances out there to get your wedding party started. Line dances are a fun way to get your guests off their chairs and onto that dance floor. There is nothing more satisfying to a bride and groom AND DJ than seeing a full dance floor full of guests having a great time.

Not familiar with the modern line dances? No worries, we are! We at DJ Jer Events & Lighting Design play the music every weekend but as a reference we recently researched a trusted favorite wedding website www.theknot.com. Here the top five listed in no particular order:

  • Cupid’s Shuffle
  • The Harlem Shake
  • Wagon Wheel (Rock Me Mama)
  • The Wobble
  • Blurred Lines

Not sure on the moves? Check out Youtube for a tutorial. You will also find that our talent love to dance and interact with the crowd… They can get your group started with the Cupid’s Shuffle or The Wobble… Another great idea is designate a few of your most outgoing wedding party attendants to lead and teach your guests. You will notice most of these dances are basic simple moves repeated. Great for all types of dancers!

Don’t rule out old favorites like the Electric Slide, Cha Cha Slide, Boot Scootin Boogie, YMCA and more! These classics will get your parents, aunts and uncles and possibly even your grandparents out showing off their moves. Remember, choose the music you enjoy, it’s your day!

When working with talent and staff at DJ Jer Events & Lighting Design, you are given the opportunity to request your music online at your leisure before your wedding dance! You may also request songs you DON’T want played. Our talent will consult with you prior to your event to make sure we have all of your requests covered. Call 605-360-1102 or email us at office@djjer.com to set up your consultation for a fun wedding dance!
